Since I’m running out of things to write about, I’m going to talk about the English Premier League. Although watching soccer is enjoyable to me, I don’t talk about it on social media as much because I’m more of a fan than a writer with the EPL. Manchester United is the club I favor the most just because I grew up in the era where Manchester United was very good. They had big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, and the list goes on and on. Those were just a few of the big names I remember idolizing as a kid.
Young players to pay attention to:
Adama Traore – The 24-year-old winger has been exciting to watch before the pandemic. He was part of Barcelona’s youth team and club before moving to the Premier League. Traore’s playing style consists of explosive speed and is built like a tank. He is considered to be the fastest player in the world. Traore led the Premier League in dribbles and was just an exciting player to watch. Everytime he touched the ball, I would be on the edge of my seat.
Saint-Maximin – The French born winger who plays for Newcastle United is absolutely electric … when healthy. He is known for his quick pace and fancy feet. There’s not limit to his footwork. He is so confident in his skills that in a match against West Ham United, he attempted to rainbow flick over that tallest player on the pitch, 6’4″ Sebastien Haller. He ultimately was not successful on the move but to even attempt that is a power move.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – He is a right back for Manchester United and is one of the most exciting footballers to watch. He is a prowess at defending and he has these long legs where it seems he can just reach around an opponent with them to make a successful tackle with no issue. Before going to Manchester United, he was awarded with Crystal Palace Player of the year: 2018-2019.
Jack Grealish – Grealish, who plays for Aston Villa, is an attacking midfielder and can play as a winger. He is known for his ability to dribble pass defenders but unlike Traore and Saint-Maximin, he is more technically sound and can see the field better. Grealish is a smart footballer and takes heavy blows by defenders which causes a lot more fouls for his opponents. Also, he got punched by a fan during a match.
All of Liverpool – Before COVID-19, Liverpool dominated the Premier League and dominated is an understatement. In 29 matches, Liverpool had 27 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Their goal differential was + 45. Players like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and the brick wall of Virgil van Dijk made this team fun to watch (even as a Manchester United supporter).
