Red Sox Bad, Outfield Good

2020 Stinks with a capital S. The Red Sox are last in the AL East, Workman and Hembree are gone, Chaim Bloom hinted at trading everyone, they don’t have a rotation, BUT my god, I LOVE THESE WEB GEMS (in the outfield of course). Definitely not talking about Devers defensively.

Once Mookie Betts left, I did not think I would be hyping up the outfield, excluding the bats. Even though Alex Verdugo is red hot at the plate, I can not stress this enough. I’m solely watching the Red Sox for Kevin Pillar, Jackie Bradley Jr, and Alex Verdugo sacrificing their bodies for a season that does. not. matter. These guys are pure grit.

First off, I feel as whenever Pillar makes a highlight play this is mentioned but, he does not have a Gold Glove award. It’s been talked about for years, even when he was in Toronto. He has the nickname ‘superman’ because of the way he dives so horizontally. Rafael Palmeiro has a gold glove but Pillar does not.

Alex Verdugo will run through a wall, and has tried to, for the love of the game. Kid’s a baller. He has a cannon for an arm too. I was skeptical of Verdugo at first, with being injured during the Mookie trade and also being part of the Mookie trade. I didn’t have much expectations for Verdugo but he’s really the only one leading the way for the Sox  performing.

Jackie Bradley Jr., is the most consistent fielder. This is known. He makes every play look routine. The centerfield dimensions at Fenway are the worst designed in the MLB, even more so than Tal’s hill at Minute Maid circa 2016. JBJ makes fielding at Fenway look too easy. OH, also he arguably has the strongest arm in the outfield.

The Sox still stink, but these catches are cool.
